despite shattered dream
Les Oliphant, an avid runner and supporter of the Bible
Society, was one of the athletes who decided to run this
year’s Comrades Marathon in aid of the Bible Society’s
2 Million Bibles
project.
Like so many other runners across South Africa and the
world, Les was looking forward to running this iconic race
before the Covid-19 outbreak halted all participation in
sporting events.
Although his Comrades dream had failed to realise, Les
managed to raise R14 331,70 thanks to his loyal supporters.
To show his gratitude, he ran 21 km on Sunday, 14 June,
the day the Comrades Marathon would have taken place.
