Cape Town is home to many people
who call the streets their home.
In Sea Point, Amanda Hattingh
from Hamigdalor Ministries and Dale
Jackson from The Lighthouse Ministry
feed some 200 people every day. As
the people line up on the pavement
in front of the Sea Point Evangelical
Congregational Church to receive their
food parcels (for many their only meal
of the day), Dale also shares the
Gospel with them.
“We feel it is our calling to reach
out to these people in need with fellow
supporters and church members.

In 1961, the Sesotho Bible was printed on a missionary press
in Bloemfontein, the Bible Society’s first complete Bible to be
printed in South Africa.
We feed all people irrespective of
their origins, background and faith
convictions,” Dale explains.
It is clear that apart from the
hunger pains, there is also the need
for spiritual nourishment – a search
for hope.
“People do approach us for a Bible
and they are very appreciative when
they receive a Bible,” Amanda says.
In May this year, the Bible Society
donated 110 Bibles and 250 Gospel
according to John booklets to these
ministries, which were distributed
among the poor.
