On Saturday, 22 August,
Dhanum Moodley, an 85-year-old
grandmother from Chatsworth in
KwaZulu-Natal, got into a taxi and
made her way to her local Bible
House in Mayville, Durban.
Dhanum had read about the Bible
Society’s 200th anniversary and the
birthday drive-by parties that were
happening at the Bible Houses across
the country and she wanted to be part
of the celebrations.
“I am a Christian and love the Lord
very much. I’m so glad to be in this
spiritual place where the atmosphere
is so charged, with such lovely people
here. It made my day. And I’m so happy
that 200 years of Bible distribution is
being honoured,” she said as she do-
nated R650 from her pension allowance
towards the Bible cause.
“Bless this place and all those who
are employed here to do this work.
May it carry on by God’s grace to
