Virtual Run &
Walk for Hope
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic
worldwide, scheduled events to
celebrate our bicentenary had to be
cancelled and we had to use the
virtual sphere to host events.
Such events were the Virtual Run
& Walk for Hope and Cycle for Hope.
More than 2 000 participants from all
over the world, including countries as
far afield as China, New Zealand and
England ran, walked and cycled for
the Bible cause in commemoration
of 200 years of Bible work on the
weekend of 22-23 August.
Athletes also took on the chal-
lenge of doing the marathon, one of
them, Billy Sigudla of Germiston. He
was so excited
prior to the race
and said, “I hope
to get much
support and
donations from the public.”
A Bellville Athletics Club runner,
Dalene du Plessis, heard about the
event while visiting the Bible House
in Bellville during the Bible Society’s
drive-by birthday party. She entered
then and there and ran 21 km. “The
Bible and God’s grace is very, very
important to me,” she said.
The Bible Society would like to
thank everyone who supported this
event.
