The work of the Bible Society had been thrown
into sharp relief on our birthday weekend, 22-23
August, when we celebrated our special milestone:
200 years of Bible work in South Africa.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic we could not
physically celebrate with you and we had to host
certain events in the virtual space. However, this
did not make the celebration any less significant
or special. See the pictures on pages 4 and 5.
As part of the United Bible Societies, we are
also celebrating another milestone in global Bible
distribution figures. The demand for Bibles has
risen, which definitely is a reason to celebrate.

For the past two centuries the Bible Society has
had the privilege of placing the Word of God in the
hands of people. In conjunction with our donors
and supporters, we have been sowers of hope.
And that is exactly how we sum up the history
of the Bible Society, a journey of hope and grace.
It is with great excitement that we look forward
to the work that still awaits us, where with God’s
grace, we can make a Bible available to everyone.
And whatever you do, whether in word or
deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.
