bible-a-month club

The Bible Society of South Africa launched its Bible-a-Month Club in July 2001.  This club differs from a typical book club where members pay for a book every month.  Bible-a-Month Club members pay a monthly amount so that someone else will receive the most precious book of all – the Bible.

Bible-a-Month Club members give a monthly donation to enable the Bible Society to make at least one Bible available to someone at an affordable price.  Not only do they help the Bible Society of South Africa to produce more Bibles for South Africa and Africa, but also for the world.

Bibles for seamen

For many years the Bible Society has been providing Bibles to the various harbour mission organisations that are active in our harbours - from Richards Bay on the East Coast to Saldanha Bay on the West Coast.

Thousands of sailors from far and wide who call at our ports frequently hear about Jesus aBibles for seamennd his love for the first time from these harbour missionaries. It is also here that many seamen receive their own Bible for the first time.

Bibles are needed in hundreds of different languages like Amharic, Arabic, Bulgarian, Burmese, Hindi, Tamil, Thai and Vietnamese, to mention but a few.

The Bible Society tries to keep the price which the mission organisations pay for Bibles as low as possible.

This year R50 000 is needed to make imported Bibles affordable as possible for harbour mission organisations in our country.

Pray for
  • all the harbour mission organisations.
  • every sailor who receives a Bible at one of our harbours.
